These are not your average donuts. The whole wheat, cinnamon and nutmeg add a different flavor and texture to them.

Preparation Time: 30 minutes

Cooking Time: 10 minutes

Serves: 10

Ingredients:

4 cups whole wheat flour

4 tsp baking powder

2 beaten eggs

1 cup milk

5 tbsp melted shortening

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 tsp nutmeg

1 cup sugar

1/2 tsp cinnamon

Instructions:

Combine the milk, sugar, egg and shortening.

Beat well. Shift the dry ingredients twice.

Add the dry ingredients into the milk mixture.

Make dough and let it sit for 30 minutes. Roll it out and use a donut cutter to cut into 10 donuts.

Fry the donuts in batches in the deep fryer.

Roll them in granulated sugar and cinnamon powder before serving. This step is optional.
